LIFE IN KOREA: TAEHWAGANG RIVER GRAND PARK IN ULSAN

Taehwagang River Grand Park
Simnidaebat (Bamboo) Forest, one of Ulsan's twelve scenic areas,
which connect to the river and the bamboo forest has been restored
 and preserved to provide a refreshing relaxation space.

Location: 969-12, Taehwa-dong, Jung-gu
Total length of Taehwagang river is 47.54km, the river basin area is 636.96km, and it originates from the Mt. Gajisan and Mt. Goheonsan.  The main stream, Namcheon (South Stream) flows throught Ulsan and then find its way to East Sea near Ulsan Bay.
Taehwagang River has the best quality of water compared with other rivers which flow through city, and so, this is a rich repository of rare fishes and aquatic creators and the area near Taehwagang river is good roost for the egret and the migratory bird.
The park has become an ecological place allowing citizens to recognize the importance of nature and their environment through the opportunity of observing and experiencing living things in a natural ecosystem.
It is also a pleasant resting space where
people unite with nature.
Every year, Taehwagang Water Festival and
National Swimming tournament are held.
