DALSEONG PARK 달성공원, DAEGU SOUTH KOREA
Dalseong park is conveniently situated in the heart of the city. With several historic sites and a zoo, the park is used as an educational field for children and youth. Rare towering and beautifully trimmed trees also attract visitors to the park.
The historical of Dalseong park: The three Hans period: Dalseong Fortress was called Dalbulseong. 1596 (the 9th year of king seonjo's reign, joseaon dynasty): Gyeongsang-gamyeong, the old Gyeongsang province governor's office established. 1905 (the 5th year of korea empire): Park established. January 21, 1963: Park designated as historical site no.62nd unit. August 1, 1969: Dalseong park opened. May 2, 1970: Zoo opened within the park. June 1 1975: Dalseong Park reorganized as Dalseong park office. April 1, 2000: Dalseong Park opened to the public free of charge.
Gwanpungnu is a pavilion built on the Pojeongmun, the front gate of a government building of Gyeong-sanggamyeong of the latter period of the Joseon Dynasty. Gwanpungnu literally means a viewing stand where a governor coluld see what was going on downtown. Gwangpungnu pavillion moved its location to the present site after Daegu Eupseong Castle was demolished in 1906. The timeworn pavillion was dismantled in 1970 and restored in 1973.
