GIMPO MT. MUNSU 김포 문수산
MUNSUSANSEONG FORTRESS, GIMPO Munsusanseong Fortress, along with Gapgotjin Fort, was built in 1694 (the 20th year of King Sukjong's reign) to defend the gateway to Ganghwa-do Island. Munsusan Mountain (376m), where the fortress is located, is the highest mountain in the Gimpo area. The wall of Munsusanseong Fortress was originally 6,123m long, buta 1,483m-long section has been lost entirely. It originally had three main gates and four ancillary gates, of which only two main gates and two ancillary gates are left. Recentrly, the City of Gimpo restored the gate towers of the North and South Gates, along with the 434m section of wall linking the North Gate with the South Gate and the ancillary gate in the south.
